Job summary

Forward Majority Remote is seeking a Director of Operations & People to run systems, infrastructure, and people practices at scale. The role reports to the CEO and spans budgets, tax, regulatory compliance, audit, grants administration, payroll and benefits, HR, and organizational administration.

The ideal candidate brings strategic hands-on leadership, strong judgment, and the ability to build processes that let the organization focus on its mission in democracy advancement.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in operations, nonprofit administration, finance, HR/people operations, compliance, or related field.
• Experience in a senior operations, administration, finance, HR, or organizational leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex operational functions and multiple external professional service providers.
• Experience overseeing accounting, tax, audit, compliance, payroll, benefits, or other regulated organizational functions.
• Experience with nonprofit organizations strongly preferred; familiarity with 501(c)(4) organizations, PACs, charitable registrations, and political/nonprofit compliance is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead organizational and financial operations, including budgeting and resource allocation.
• Oversee compliance, tax, and audit activities and work with external accountants.
• Manage payroll, benefits, and HR programs, and ensure strong internal controls.
• Coordinate with external vendors and consultants to ensure high-quality, timely work.
• Develop policies and processes to enable scalable operations and organizational growth.
