Job summary

Courier Newsroom is seeking a Director of Membership & Fundraising to design and scale a national readership program alongside existing fundraising channels. You will own the strategy, infrastructure, and day-to-day delivery, growing email, SMS, and other grassroots fundraising efforts across a remote network.

The ideal candidate leads with vision, has 5+ years in membership or fundraising, and can partner with editorial and revenue leadership to expand impact while maintaining a reader-focused

Qualifications

• 5+ years in membership, grassroots, or online fundraising — political, advocacy, nonprofit, or media.
• Built or grown a membership or reader revenue program from an early stage.
• Self-starter who defines strategy and executes with minimal support.

Responsibilities

• Build the membership program from the ground up with defined value, tiers, and benefits.
• Own strategy and day-to-day delivery, crafting messages and running campaigns across channels.
• Grow donor file via email, SMS, peer-to-peer, and social, converting one-time donors to recurring supporters.
