Job summary

Pie Insurance is seeking a Director of Actuary to lead Corporate Actuarial for workers’ compensation and P&C lines, overseeing a growing team and driving modeling, pricing, and risk management initiatives. The role partners with senior leaders and external partners to influence strategic decisions.

The candidate will guide loss trend analyses, build predictive models, and ensure robust reporting while fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture in a remote U.S. setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 10+ years of progressive insurance Actuarial experience required.
• Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) preferred.
• Experienced leader with 6+ years of people leadership.
• Experience using Snowflake, SQL, Python and other programming languages is a plus.
• AI-native: actively uses AI tools to accelerate analysis, drafting, and team productivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead actuarial analyses for reserving, pricing, ratemaking, analytics, and data integration.
• Develop predictive models and maintain data pipelines for production models.
• Provide regular status updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data team and reinsurers to optimize risk transfer programs.
• Mentor and coach team members and oversee recruiting high‑quality analysts.
• Document actuarial department processes and governance.
