Job summary

Rheumatology Research Foundation is seeking a Director, Philanthropy Officer to lead major gift fundraising initiatives nationwide from a remote base in the United States. The role focuses on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts from $50K to $500K, while maintaining an aggressive prospect visit schedule (virtual and in-person) and supporting leadership volunteers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in major gift fundraising with demonstrated success securing gifts ($50K+) from individuals.
• Experience utilizing move management techniques and prospect research.
• Advanced knowledge of gift transaction components and gifting vehicles, including stock transfers, estate, and life-income gifts.
• Advanced knowledge of fundraising databases and MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
• Strong writing and presentation abilities; capable of persuasive donor communications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for ongoing discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors.
• Manage a portfolio of 100–150 prospective major gift donors with focus on gifts $50K–$500K.
• Oversee extensive face-to-face donor visits and cultivate relationships to close gifts.
• Meet or exceed annual fundraising targets of $500K–$2M; track activity metrics.
