UL Research Institutes in the United States is seeking a Director, Research for the Digital Safety Research Institute (DSRI). This is a remote position.

The Director will lead research activities focused on creating assessment methodologies and prototyping tools for AI/digital system assessments, and will form partnerships with government, standards bodies, certification organizations, and AI safety teams. You will hire and develop researchers and engineers, define KPIs with the DSRI Executive

Qualifications

• PhD required with strong research project management experience.
• Experience leading distributed AI/digital research teams.
• Proven ability to design and evaluate test methodologies and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and engineering activities for AI/digital assessments.
• Build partnerships with government, standards bodies, certification organizations, and AI safety teams.
• Define KPIs with DSRI’s Executive Director and oversee project budgets and timelines.
• Hire, mentor, and develop researchers and engineers.
• Communicate research findings to stakeholders and policy committees.
