Job summary

AmeriLife Group, LLC is seeking a hands-on Director of Data Architecture & Governance to lead enterprise data strategy, modeling, metadata, and MDM. You will drive cloud-native platforms, governance, and data quality while mentoring architects and partnering with AI, analytics, and business teams across the organization.

The role emphasizes technical leadership over traditional management, with collaboration across engineering, data products, and security to enable trusted, AI-ready data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering.
• 10+ years in enterprise data architecture or related fields.
• 5+ years leading enterprise architecture or technical teams.
• Expert-level SQL development and query optimization.
• Strong Python, Spark, and data engineering skills.
• Deep expertise with Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog.
• Experience designing at scale on Azure or AWS.
• Expert knowledge of Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modeling, and canonical models.
• Experience with ERwin/ER/Studio/Sparx Enterprise Architect.
• MDM, metadata, lineage, and data catalog implementations.
• Experience with data quality frameworks and automated controls.
• CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Define and own enterprise data architecture strategy, standards, and reference architectures.
• Design scalable cloud-native data platforms and data products for analytics and AI.
• Lead data governance, metadata management, lineage, and data catalog initiatives.
• Drive enterprise data modeling, Data Vault 2.0, and canonical models.
• Mentor architects, review designs, and lead from the front on complex projects.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, AI, Reporting, Security, and business leaders.
