Job summary

North is seeking a Director of Applied AI Engineering to build and lead a hands-on AI team delivering production-ready AI in a regulated financial services context. You will partner across Product, Sales, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Security to ensure explainability, auditable guardrails, and measurable KPIs.

This is a leadership role with strategy, architecture, and rapid value delivery. You will drive collaborative work with Cloud and Data teams, own the evaluation lifecycle, and shape

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years in software engineering, machine learning, or related domain.
• 2+ years building and shipping production systems on top of large language models (LLMs).
• 4+ years of hands-on management experience with a track record of hiring and growing teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing Applied AI engineering team with defined standards.
• Partner with Product, customers, and stakeholders to observe workflows and design AI solutions.
• Drive rapid discovery, prototyping, and production deployment across enterprise projects.
• Architect, deploy, and maintain production AI solutions including agents and copilots.
• Establish modular integrations for AI agents with least-privilege access.
• Own AI evaluation lifecycle with offline/online evals and production readiness criteria.
• Manage production operations, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, and cost control.
