Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer to lead AI engineering initiatives and shape scalable AI platforms. This role partners with experts across engineering, research, and product management to deliver AI-powered banking solutions for millions of customers.

You will drive responsible AI practices, mentor teams, and define long-term AI strategy while ensuring regulatory and ethical standards are met. This remote-eligible role offers broad impact across the Capital One ecosystem.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field with required years of AI/ML experience.
At least 3 years of people leadership experience.
5+ years of engineering leadership and AI platform delivery.
Experience with cloud providers and scalable AI deployments.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components including model training, inference, and governance.
Make high-judgment build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Invent state-of-the-art foundation model optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, and throughput.
