Job summary

Avalon Healthcare Solutions is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead delivery of existing platforms and new AI-enabled solutions within a scaled agile framework. You will influence across Product, Operations, and Compliance, while staying hands-on at the proof-of-concept level to de‑risk decisions.

The role requires 10+ years in IT with 5+ years in leadership, healthcare interoperability experience, and strong knowledge of AWS, Java, Linux, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SAFe practices.

Qualifications

10+ years IT experience in applications design and development.
5+ years in IT management/leadership.
Experience building AI capabilities in engineering workflows.
Healthcare domain experience and interoperability (HL7, EDI, FHIR) preferred.
Strong SAFe and agile scrum leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, management and implementation of software platforms.
Oversee AI adoption and proof-of-concept work, balancing hands-on and strategic oversight.
Coordinate with Product, Operations, Client Success, Data, and Compliance.
Mentor engineers and drive cross‑functional outcomes.
Manage development budget and vendor relationships.
