Job summary

Actalent is seeking a remote Mechanical/Dimensional Engineer to advance state-of-the-art designs for VR/AR applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive concepts from early prototypes toward production, using GD&T, 3D variation analysis, and robust measurement planning.

The role requires PST hours, experience with NX and metrology, and a proven track record in dimensional engineering for high-volume consumer technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of industry or academic experience in relevant engineering roles.
• Experience developing 3D variation simulation analyses using Siemens VA VisVSA, 3DCS or CETOL.
• Knowledge of machining, 3D printing, and injection molding.
• Strong GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5 with practical metrology.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to geometry control solutions with 3D dimensional analysis and datum coordination.
• Lead tolerance analysis and develop GD&T schemes with best practices for dimensional control.
• Collaborate to generate concepts and mechanical designs that integrate sensors into assemblies.
• Apply 3D variation simulation modeling to ensure robust performance across manufacturing variability.
• Contribute to measurement plans and support gage R&R studies with suppliers and partners.
• Author and review MSOPs to ensure consistent dimensional inspection processes.
• Partner with metrology teams to define measurement strategies and tools.
• Support design transitions from concept through prototyping to production.
• Use statistical methods to analyze data and inform PPAP decisions.
