Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Remote Industrial Software Engineer to design and build Ignition Perspective applications that integrate live plant data with web technologies. You will connect OPC/Kepware/tags and historian data, ensuring real-time performance and reliability.

This role blends field engagement with robust software development, requiring strong communication and the ability to translate complex operations into scalable digital solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5-7 years of practical Ignition experience including custom development and integration services
• Proficiency in Python scripting for application logic and automation
• Solid experience with SQL databases and relational data models
• Experience integrating external systems using REST APIs or web services
• Hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI systems and live industrial data
• Experience configuring OPC connections, tags, and historian data
• Ability to travel up to 25% to client sites in VA

Responsibilities

• Design and develop responsive industrial web applications using Ignition Perspective and supporting web technologies
• Build modular, maintainable architectures for long-term scalability
• Connect equipment and control systems to Ignition using OPC, Kepware, tags, and related technologies
• Configure and troubleshoot real-time and historical data collection
• Integrate applications with SQL databases, SAP, SharePoint, Active Directory, and REST APIs
• Collaborate with operators, trades, engineers, and managers to gather requirements
• Translate user needs into intuitive applications and visualizations
• Produce technical documentation and architecture diagrams
