Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer in a remote-capable role with on-site options. The role focuses on reliability, automation, and supporting a VMware-centric data center with growing Azure integrations.

You will contribute to CI/CD, backups, monitoring, and cross-functional collaboration across Linux, Tomcat, and DB2 environments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in DevOps or IT infrastructure, strong Linux admin skills, and hands-on experience with VMware,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering experience.
5+ years Linux administration experience.
5+ years of experience administering Apache Tomcat in production.
5+ years of experience supporting DB2 environments.
Experience administering VMware and Hyper-V in enterprise data centers.
Experience supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Familiarity with Azure services and hybrid-cloud integrations.
Experience supporting CI/CD tooling and automation frameworks.
Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, SSL/TLS, firewalls and load balancers.
Experience with monitoring and logging platforms.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Ability to support high-availability production systems.

Responsibilities

Administer and support multi-tenant production, staging, and development environments.
Manage Linux-based infrastructure supporting Tomcat and DB2.
Maintain and optimize VMware virtual infrastructure in the data center.
Support Azure integrations and hybrid-cloud connectivity.
Support CI/CD pipeline infrastructure and automation tooling.
Collaborate with development teams to improve build reliability and deployment automation.
Monitor performance, availability, capacity and security across environments.
Manage backup strategies and disaster recovery testing.
Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, database, and networking issues.
Develop infrastructure automation and operational scripting.
Maintain system configurations and environment consistency.
Create and maintain runbooks and diagrams.
Participate in after-hours support and incident response.
Ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
