Job summary

More Perfect Union is seeking a Development Director to lead the expansion of the fundraising function for a fast-growing nonprofit media organization. You will work closely with the Executive Director, COO, and Editor-in-Chief to accelerate major gifts, build donor bases, and secure sustainability for the organization.

You will design donor engagement plans, develop materials, and implement systems to track progress toward fundraising goals.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in nonprofit fundraising with 3+ years in major gifts.
• Strong writing and editing skills for donor materials.
• Experience with major donor and foundation fundraising and relationship management.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead the major gift fundraising strategy with donor prioritization and portfolio management.
• Maintain portfolio of major donors with written communications, calls, visits, and relationship maintenance.
• Prospect for new major donors.
• Coordinate outreach to major donors and foundations, including materials, briefings, and follow-ups.
