Job summary

Greystar, a global real estate platform headquartered in Charleston, SC, seeks a Development Accountant to manage GAAP financial reporting for a project portfolio. You will handle budgeting, project cost analysis, and liaison work with investors and lenders while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Join a collaborative Central Region accounting team, contributing to audits and financial planning as we support development and construction lifecycles across multiple markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 1-2+ years of professional accounting experience; construction or real estate development experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail with creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and work independently, exercising sound judgment to drive tasks forward with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Applies GAAP to compile and analyze financial information into statements and reports.
• Maintains development and construction budgets across project life cycle; assists directors to manage budgets.
• Develops understanding of project agreements, investment materials, and cost classifications.
• Establishes and maintains professional communication with internal and external project stakeholders; responds to investor and lender requests.
• Manages cash accounts; performs reconciliations, wire transfers, deposits, and payment processes.
• Collaborates with Accounts Payable, Finance, Asset Management, and Development teams.
• Acts as liaison to internal and external auditors; provides data and answers to complete audits.
