Job summary

Symetra is seeking an Investment Operations Analyst to provide day-to-day derivatives operations support for the investment portfolio. The role focuses on trade lifecycle management, confirmations, settlements, and collateral, with exposure to risk and compliance teams.

This is a remote role with periodic travel to Farmington, CT for in-person events. You will collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, and custodians, support reporting and audits, and drive automation initiatives to improve

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail while being analytically oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Occasional nights and weekends will be required.
  • Versatility and flexibility to assist with coverage of other team members.
  • Interest and ability to use technology to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Bloomberg or other trade order management system experience.
  • Simcorp Dimension or other investment accounting system experience.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Previous experience working with investments including fixed income, alternative assets, loans and/or derivatives.
  • PowerBI or similar reporting application.
  • High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the derivative trade lifecycle, including capture, allocations, settlements, and lifecycle events.
  • Manage the derivative confirmations process with timely confirmations and affirmations.
  • Coordinate the derivative settlement process including pre-settlement confirmation and wire booking.
  • Provide oversight of collateral and margin activities including calls and movements.
  • Perform reconciliations and resolve exceptions across internal systems and counterparties.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, custodians, and accounting teams.
  • Support derivatives reporting, audits, and documentation.
  • Provide client support by addressing derivatives-related inquiries.
  • Participate in special projects and automation initiatives.
