Job summary

ENERCON is seeking a Distribution Planning Engineer to lead or support DER impact studies, ensuring safe and reliable integration of solar PV, storage, and EVs into the distribution grid. This role can be located in any ENERCON office or remotely within the United States, and involves DER analysis, modeling, and documentation for planning decisions.

You will perform simulations using WindMil, CYME, and Synergi, develop distribution models, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Typically requires 6 years of experience in electric utility distribution planning, with a focus on DER integration.
Proficiency in power system analysis software (WindMil, CYME, Synergi).
Familiarity with IEEE 1547, FERC, and NERC interconnection standards.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Experience with hosting capacity analysis and locating value assessments preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and support DER impact studies including hosting capacity, voltage regulation, thermal loading, protection coordination, and power quality.
Perform steady-state and dynamic simulations; develop and maintain distribution system models; run scenario analyses.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory filings.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes and methodologies.
