Job summary

Virtual Teammate is seeking a detail-oriented Dental Insurance Verification Specialist to join our remote team. You will verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility to ensure accurate billing and smooth patient coordination.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of experience in dental insurance verification or dental billing, and strong communication skills with a high level of accuracy. This role supports HIPAA compliance and collaborates with front-office teams remotely.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in dental insurance verification or dental billing.
• Understanding of PPO, HMO, indemnity plans.
• Familiar with CDT codes and common procedures.
• Experience with dental PM software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, CareStack).
• Excellent English communication (verbal and written).
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Remote work ability and multitasking capability.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient dental insurance coverage, eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
• Review and document plan details including deductibles, maximums, waiting periods, frequencies and limitations.
• Confirm coverage for preventive, basic and major procedures.
• Communicate insurance benefits clearly to patients and internal staff.
• Coordinate with dental offices and insurance companies via phone, portals and email.
• Identify discrepancies and resolve insurance-related issues proactively.
• Ensure accurate entry of insurance information into practice management systems.
• Assist with pre-authorizations and breakdown of benefits as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA and data privacy compliance.
• Support billing and front office teams with insurance-related inquiries.
