Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Denials Strike Team Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. The role focuses on reducing aged accounts receivable and maximizing reimbursement by investigating and resolving denied or aging claims.

The ideal candidate will leverage Athena, payer portals, Excel, and Google Sheets to research denials, identify root causes, submit appeals, and drive resolution with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 3 years of denials management experience in a healthcare provider environment.
• Experience with denied claims, accounts receivable, and reimbursement follow-up.
• Proficiency navigating payer portals to research denials and submit documentation.
• Experience using Athena for worklists, claim review, denials management and workflow execution.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills to determine why claims were denied and implement solutions.
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills including formulas, sorting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Review aged accounts receivable, focusing on 80+ day aging buckets.
• Identify claims nearing timely filing deadlines and take corrective action.
• Investigate denied claims and determine root causes.
• Research payer guidelines and filing requirements for compliant resubmissions.
• Prepare and submit appeals, reconsiderations, and corrected claims.
• Use payer portals to obtain denial details, documentation, and claim status.
• Track work activity in Athena, Excel, and Google Sheets.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle and Billing teams to resolve complex issues.
• Reduce aged A/R and improve reimbursement outcomes.
• Prevent write-offs through proactive follow-up and resolution.
