Job summary

Hawkins Parnell & Young LLP seeks an Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of defense litigation experience to remotely support its New York office. You will participate in all stages of cases and have opportunities to make court appearances as part of a team of seasoned attorneys handling toxic tort and civil litigation.

You will manage a caseload, attend depositions, hearings, and mediations, analyze discovery and medical records, and draft briefs, memos, and client updates.

Qualifications

• Active New York license in good standing is REQUIRED.
• Active New Jersey license in good standing is ALSO REQUIRED.
• 2–4 years’ experience in defense litigation; toxic tort experience is a plus.
• Substantial deposition experience and at least 1 year courtroom experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of litigated claims and prepare for trial with defense strategies.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations as part of a legal team.
• Analyze discovery, medical records, and expert defense strategy; support motion practice.
• Research legal issues and investigate parties, businesses, and worksites.
• Draft briefs, memos, and client updates.
