Job summary

Hawkins Parnell & Young LLP is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of defense litigation experience to remotely support its New York office. The ideal candidate will draft key motions, conduct depositions, and handle discovery disputes as part of a collaborative team handling toxic tort and civil litigation.

Active licensure in New York and New Jersey is required. Joint responsibilities include managing case workloads, attending depositions, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Active NY bar in good standing is REQUIRED.
• Active NJ bar in good standing is ALSO REQUIRED.
• 2–4 years’ experience in defense litigation; toxic tort is a plus.
• At least 1 year of courtroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseloads for litigated claims and prepare for trial, developing defense strategies.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations.
• Analyze discovery, medical records, and motion practice; support defense strategy.
• Draft briefs, memos, and client updates; research legal issues.
