Job summary

Brad Foote Gear Works, a leader in precision gearing and gearboxes, seeks a Business Development Manager to drive growth in the U.S. defense sector. You will own the defense sales pipeline, coordinate with engineering, estimating, quality, operations, and supply chain, and lead cross-functional teams to win contracts.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and proven defense sales experience. Remote work from home with up to 50% travel to Cicero, IL, and occasional time at the main office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven defense industry sales experience with measurable revenue growth.
• Experience selling complex engineered products and/or manufacturing services.
• Familiarity with defense contracting environments and compliance expectations (ITAR/EAR, DFARS).
• Experience with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems is preferred.
• Experience with CMMC 2.0 information security requirements.
• Established defense, aerospace, and maritime market network preferred.
• Experience negotiating long-term supplier contracts and multi-year awards.

Responsibilities

• Own and grow a defense-focused sales pipeline for gearing, gearboxes, and machined components.
• Develop and execute account plans for defense primes, shipyards, depots, and tier suppliers.
• Lead RFQ/RFP responses with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive pricing and lead times.
• Negotiate commercial terms aligned with company objectives.
• Coordinate internal teams to deliver compliant proposals and customer outcomes.
• Travel up to 50% with some time at the Cicero, IL facility.
