Job summary

PayNearMe MT, Inc. is seeking a full-time DataOps Engineer focused on implementing and maintaining SQL databases in a remote capacity.

You will help design data models, optimize SQL queries, and explore automation to improve DataOps workflows. You will collaborate with senior engineers on cloud database design (Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL), tuning, and governance, leveraging AWS services and IaC tools like Terraform or OpenTofu.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of cloud database design and implementation experience, including Aurora PostgreSQL and Aurora MySQL.
• Proficiency in SQL and writing performant queries; SnowSQL is a plus.
• Strong experience with relational database design and data modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with database Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Experience with data security and governance techniques, as well as monitoring database systems using AWS services.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in designing data models and schemas, participating in code walk-throughs
• Support performance tuning efforts on SQL queries related to applications, storage, and network
• Monitor data service costs and flag potential cost inefficiencies to senior team members
