Job summary

Whatnot, a leading live commerce platform, seeks a Data Engineer to design and scale data architectures and pipelines powering data-driven decisions. You will work with payments and finance to deliver reliable data models, streaming and batch workflows, and foundational data products for internal and external growth.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a data or software engineer building data warehouses, distributed data systems, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing data models for analytics and transactional workloads.
• Hands-on with ingestion (Kafka, Debezium), transformation (dbt, Spark, Flink), orchestration (Dagster, Airflow) and observability (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations).
• Experience operating cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) including schema design and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own data architecture end-to-end; define capture, model, and serve data; implement in production.
• Build and operate streaming and batch data pipelines with low latency, high throughput, and data quality.
• Design canonical domain models serving analytics, ML, and real-time apps; enforce data contracts.
