Job summary

GovCIO LLC is seeking a Databricks SME to guide data scientists, analysts, and infrastructure teams in delivering production-ready data solutions for VA initiatives. The role emphasizes workspace automation, onboarding support, and cloud migration to enable rapid adoption of modern data tools across VA workloads.

The position is fully remote within the United States, with a focus on data platforms, governance, and customer success to ensure seamless integration and scalable analytics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (or commensurate experience).
• 12+ years in business analysis, project management, or similar role.
• Strong Databricks and Azure data services experience including workspace administration and catalog config.
• Proficiency in ETL/ELT, data modeling, and handling structured/unstructured data.
• Automation of provisioning workflows using scripting or IaC tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-team collaboration abilities.
• Effective technical documentation and onboarding/support for users.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage linked services, mount points, and catalog configuration in Databricks and VA Data Lake.
• Develop and optimize PySpark jobs, notebooks, and workflows in Databricks.
• Build ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks Lakehouse features.
• Design and implement Spark-based data processing for analytics workloads.
• Optimize Databricks Spark jobs for performance, cost, and scalability.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business SMEs to deliver production-ready data solutions.
• Experience with Delta Lake and Synapse.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and security best practices.
