Job summary

Buildertrend is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead migrating our data platform to a modern Databricks lakehouse, replacing legacy systems with a single source of truth. You will design pipelines from Salesforce, SQL Server and Gong into curated datasets used by analytics and AI.

You will establish medallion architecture, build ELT pipelines with dbt and Fivetran, retire BigQuery and Tableau dependencies, strengthen reliability and mentor engineers toward technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years in data engineering or analytics.
• Experience leading a data platform migration.
• Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog and dbt.
• Strong SQL, Python and API data handling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Buildertrend's Databricks lakehouse using a medallion architecture.
• Build ELT pipelines with Databricks, dbt and Fivetran for data from SQL Server, Salesforce, MongoDB, Gong, etc.
• Lead migration from legacy systems by refactoring pipelines and retargeting BI tools.
• Improve reliability with log-ship replication, ingestion, auto-recovery and watchdog orchestration.
• Build data quality checks, freshness monitoring and quality metrics.
• Design access controls and governance for large datasets and AI tools.
• Write data documentation (data dictionary, ERDs, specs).
• Develop curated data products for stakeholders and customers.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and leaders to prioritise work.
