Job summary

Sporty Group is building a robust, scalable database backbone to serve users globally. You will lead design, deployment, and maintenance of highly available database systems across regions, while driving automation with Go and Python. Expect emphasis on performance, security, backup strategies, and proactive monitoring.

The role is for a Database Reliability Engineer in a remote-first environment, with opportunities to adopt new technologies and contribute to platform evolution across teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience tackling and managing advanced MySQL and MongoDB problems.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, performance optimisation and high availability.
• Experience building reliable, scalable data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with SRE concepts and reliability engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available database architectures across multiple countries.
• Improve existing database infrastructure with performance tuning and disaster recovery procedures.
• Develop automation tools and internal platforms using Go/Python to streamline operations.
• Monitor health and performance, set up alerting and respond to incidents.
