Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve security controls across the enterprise data estate, including analytics platforms and relational databases. This is a hands-on role in the data protection domain reporting to the Deputy CISO.

You will design and enforce encryption, key management, masking, and least-privilege access while collaborating with IT, Security Operations, and Data Analytics teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Implement data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Operate encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
• Enforce least-privilege access models and conduct entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for data platforms and pipelines.
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation.
