Job summary

D&G Solutions seeks a Data Scientist to develop statistically defensible representations of logistics-network behavior for modeling, simulation, and decision support. The role focuses on statistical analysis—not data pipelines or software infrastructure—working with OR Analysts and SMEs to communicate confidence and uncertainty.

The candidate will explore distributions, fit models, and validate results, with remote work and potential travel to client sites as needed. Must be a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, OR, Operations Research, CS, Engineering, Economics or related field.
• 8+ years applying statistics, probability, data science, or predictive analytics to complex problems.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with scientific libraries.
• Experience in exploratory analysis, fitting distributions, evaluating models, Monte Carlo techniques, and communicating findings.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory data analysis to characterize distributions and patterns in logistics and operations data.
• Fit and validate probability distributions and quantify uncertainty using statistical methods.
• Develop and evaluate statistical and predictive models to improve understanding of logistics-system behavior.
• Assess data sufficiency, model assumptions, performance, and uncertainty.
• Translate empirical findings into defensible inputs for modeling and simulation.
• Analyze simulation outputs for variability and statistical significance with cross-team collaboration.
• Translate results into decision-ready visualizations and document methods and provenance.
