Picarro is seeking a Data Scientist to advance detection, attribution, localization, and quantification of trace gases from complex sensor data. You will apply rigorous statistical and physical modeling to core measurement challenges and collaborate across data analytics, customer success, product, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in a physical science or related field.
• 2+ years of research or industry experience.
• Strong foundation in statistical modeling.
• Experience with time-series and geospatial data.
• Exposure to atmospheric transport concepts is a plus.
• Proficiency in Python for numerical analysis and SQL.
• Able to communicate complex results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement models and algorithms for detection, attribution, localization, and quantification of trace gases.
• Build atmospheric transport and dispersion models to support emissions analytics.
• Apply Bayesian inference and uncertainty quantification to results.
• Work with time-series and geospatial data to create analytical workflows.
• Design and run experiments to validate plume propagation and detection.
• Write production-ready code and integrate models into the cloud platform.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools and maintain good engineering practices.
• Process and visualize large scientific datasets for stakeholders.
• Maintain rigorous documentation and communicate findings clearly.
