Job summary

LMI is seeking a Dataverse/Data Science Lead to guide advanced analytics for DHS CBP programs. You will lead data strategy, model development, and governance while mentoring analysts and coordinating across technical teams.

Ideal candidates combine hands-on Python/SQL skills with experience in Dataverse, ML, and data pipelines. This role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain CBP BI, with up to 20% travel.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field.
• 9+ years of progressive experience in applied data science or related roles.
• Experience leading complex analytical efforts and communicating results to diverse stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with Python and SQL to develop and troubleshoot workflows.
• Experience designing data models and data pipelines with quality controls.
• Experience with advanced analytics methods including ML, NLP, or AI.
• Familiarity with Dataverse and major cloud/analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytical strategy for complex operational and programmatic questions.
• Serve as the SME for Dataverse data structures and integration with reporting and analytics.
• Assess data readiness, quality, lineage, and access considerations.
• Design and maintain reporting-ready Dataverse data models and pipelines.
• Develop and evaluate statistical models and ML methods.
• Perform hands-on analysis using Python, SQL, and Dataverse queries.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define baselines, outcomes, and measures.
• Translate findings into actionable products for decision-makers; communicate uncertainty and limitations.
• Lead evaluation of models, bias assessments, and validation strategies.
• Establish analytical standards, governance, and reproducibility practices.
• Create reusable assets and documentation to accelerate future work.
• Coach and mentor analysts and data scientists on best practices.
