Job summary

Dune is building a scalable data platform for blockchain data, focusing on ingesting petabytes of data, enabling third-party data ingestion, and delivering fast SQL queries across datasets.

As a data-focused software engineer, you will design distributed systems, work with Kotlin and Go (plus Java and Rust), and push for high-performance, well-tested code in a remote-first, globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• Strong general CS knowledge and ability to learn new technologies
• Understanding of distributed system design or willingness to learn
• Knowledge of blockchain technology and RPC interactions
• Experience with datalakes and formats like Parquet, Delta, Iceberg
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Proficiency in a JVM language and writing well-designed, testable software

Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed systems with high impact architectural decisions
• Tackle challenges in distributed systems, large databases, SQL processing, data modelling, or performance
• Own components of the data platform (ingestion/decoding)
• Write code in Kotlin and Go, with Java and Rust as needed
• Improve internal developer experience with tests and deployment automation
• Automate incident diagnosis and resolution using AI
• Collaborate with a fast engineering team and build AI agents for automation
