Job summary

Dune is seeking a software engineer focused on data to help ensure our blockchain data platform scales to accommodate growing data volumes. You will design distributed systems and own components like ingestion/decoding, writing primarily in Kotlin and Go with some Java and Rust, while prioritizing performance and good design.

You will join one of the fastest engineering teams in the industry, collaborating across a distributed, remote-first company with flexible hours, equity, and health

Qualifications

• Strong generalist with fundamental CS knowledge and ability to adapt to new technologies.
• Understanding of distributed system design or willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of blockchain technology and RPC interactions.
• Experience with datalakes and formats like parquet, delta, iceberg.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with writing well-designed, testable software in JVM languages.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed systems and participate in high-impact architectural decisions.
• Tackle challenges in distributed systems, very large databases, SQL processing, data modelling, or systems performance.
• Own components within our blockchain data platform such as data ingestion and decoding.
• Write code mainly in Kotlin and Go, with Java and Rust as needed, focusing on design and performance.
• Improve the developer experience with better test setups, integration tests, and deployment processes.
• Automate incident diagnosis and resolution using AI; work with a fast engineering team.
• Build AI agents for automation in the team.
