Job summary

DataKind, a remote nonprofit data science organization, is seeking a data engineer to work on higher education data integration. You will handle schemas and data from SIS/LMS platforms and build an integrated model that enables reliable, auditable transformations.

The role emphasizes SQL and Python, with exposure to dbt, Great Expectations, and Git, and offers flexible time-off, comprehensive benefits, and professional growth opportunities. Remote, ~40 hours/week, ET business hours.

Qualifications

• Direct experience with higher education data schemas and databases.
• You are skilled in writing data dictionaries, mapping specifications, and ensuring traceable transformations.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with familiarity in dbt, Great Expectations, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Work extensively with higher education system schemas and databases, primarily from SIS and LMS platforms.
• Review, prioritize, and analyze data columns from various ed-tech systems for inclusion in the integrated data model.
• Apply filtering, if-then logic, splitting, and concatenation to transform data across schemas.
