Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) seeks a Data Stewardship & Governance Lead to own the data catalog, champion governance standards, and drive accountability across a multi-site organization. You will coordinate with data stewards, owners, and product teams to ensure consistent policy application.

The role emphasizes data definitions, lineage, and metadata management, with remote-friendly, hybrid collaboration across U.S. time zones. A detail-oriented data professional will thrive here.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or related data discipline.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and comparable data catalog platforms.
• Solid knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate programs across departments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, translating governance concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage change logs and governance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the enterprise data catalog in Microsoft Purview, including definitions, glossary terms, classifications, and metadata.
• Serve as primary contact for data stewards and data owners; guide governance standards and track stewardship activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Data Governance Committee meetings; prepare agendas and track actions.
• Monitor changes to definitions, standards, and policies; maintain change logs and inform stakeholders.
• Champion governance practices; escalate data quality issues and non-compliance when needed.
• Support development and communication of governance policies and frameworks across business units.
• Conduct data quality assessments with stewards and owners; drive remediation of gaps.
• Develop governance training materials, onboarding guides, and reference docs.
• Partner with Data & Analytics, Data Engineering, and IT to ensure Purview is configured for lineage, classifications, and access controls.
• Track governance program health and provide status updates to the Director, Data Governance.
