Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) seeks a Director of Data Governance to own the enterprise data governance strategy, operating model, and framework, guiding data quality and integrity across ~1,000 hospitals and corporate functions. This senior leader chairs the Data Governance Council and partners with Legal, Compliance, and business leaders to embed data accountability at scale.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years in data management or governance, with 8+ years in leadership.
• Experience building enterprise data governance programs and councils.
• Experience with Purview/Collibra/Alation and cloud data platforms.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Analytical mindset and ability to translate governance concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own and mature enterprise data governance framework and standards.
• Lead network of data stewards and data owners.
• Integrate governance across data product lifecycle from ingestion to reporting.
• Establish business glossary and metadata management.
• Define data quality KPIs and monitor with Purview and other tools.
• Chair Data Governance Council with senior leaders.
• Oversee data lineage, cataloging, and master data management.
• Ensure regulatory/privacy compliance incl. CCPA and state laws.
• Oversee governance tooling selection and optimization (Purview).
• Lead data literacy and enablement initiatives across NVA.
• Report governance health to leadership and the Data Governance Council.
• Lead the Data Support hub strategy and AI-driven Q&A automation.
