Job summary

National Veterinary Associates seeks a Data Governance Director to own the enterprise data governance strategy, operating model, and standards across nearly 1,000 hospitals and corporate functions. You will lead a governance team, enable data literacy, and partner with Legal and Compliance to manage data risk.

Reporting to the VP, Data & Analytics, this role chairs the Data Governance Council and ensures data quality and regulatory alignment across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of progressive experience in data management, governance, or related data disciplines.
• 8+ years in a dedicated data governance leadership role in a multi-site enterprise environment.
• Proven track record building enterprise data governance programs and governance councils.
• Hands-on experience with governance and cataloging tools (Purview, Collibra, Alation) and cloud data platforms.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own and mature the enterprise data governance framework—policies, standards, processes, and operating model.
• Lead and structure an enterprise network of data stewards and data owners.
• Direct the integration of governance guardrails across data product lifecycle from ingestion to reporting.
• Define enterprise standards for business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata management.
• Define and own data quality metrics and KPIs; monitor with Purview and tooling; drive root-cause resolution.
• chair the Data Governance Council and drive enterprise-wide adoption of standards.
