Job summary

Hastings Insurance Company is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and operation of our enterprise data platforms, pipelines, integrations, and architecture within the IT team.

You will oversee data movement, transformation, storage, and availability, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure data access for downstream systems and teams. This is an IT-focused leadership role, partnering with BI and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in IT/engineering
• 10+ years in data engineering, data platforms, warehousing or integration
• Experience leading data engineering or technical teams
• Strong design, development and support of ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration
• Understanding of data warehousing, data modeling and data architecture principles

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for enterprise data engineering, warehousing, integration and platform operations
• Provide technical leadership for design, development, deployment and support of data pipelines and platforms
• Guide modernization of the enterprise data environment with an eye toward scalability and maintainability
• Ensure reliable ingestion, movement, transformation, and delivery of data across systems
• Establish engineering practices for data quality, governance, security and reliability
• Collaborate with BI, IT engineering and stakeholders to translate data needs into technical solutions
• Oversee production support and health of data solutions, including troubleshooting and RCA
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve scalability, automation and cost-effectiveness
• Develop maintenance schedules for data platforms and systems
• Support vendor evaluations and third-party data service relationships
• Stay informed on data engineering trends including insurance industry developments
