Job summary

Trilogy Federal is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and sustain enterprise workflow and case management applications for a federal health client. You will collaborate with senior staff to build components, data models, integrations, and reporting outputs supporting multi-level clinical review workflows.

The role blends application development and data engineering, including intake forms, dashboards, data pipelines, and SQL/reporting tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a computer-related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software development or data engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with REST APIs and JSON.
• Experience with Git-based workflows.
• Ability to read and work from user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Willingness to learn new platforms, including low-code environments.
• Ability to work independently or in remote/hybrid teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain application components including intake forms, dashboards, routing, and audit logging.
• Design data structures to support routing, threshold logic, versioning, and reporting.
• Build data pipelines to ingest/transform/load data from various sources.
• Write and optimize SQL queries and stored logic.
• Develop and support REST API integrations and structured data exchanges.
• Create reporting views, dashboards, and automated outputs for stakeholders.
• Translate epics/user stories into working functionality and participate in agile ceremonies.
• Validate data, create test data, and assist with testing and defect triage.
• Use Git-based version control and participate in reviews and deployments.
• Produce technical documentation including data dictionaries and runbooks.
• Support federal security/privacy and accessibility requirements.
• Collaborate with analysts, product owners, testers, and SMEs to clarify requirements.
• Communicate progress and risks to leads and PMs.
• Stay current with platform capabilities to maintain maintainability.
