Job summary

Whatnot is hiring a Data Engineer to design and scale data systems powering company-wide analytics and growth. You will own data architecture, build streaming and batch pipelines, and establish canonical models used by analytics, ML, and real-time apps.

You will work with payments, finance, and product teams to ensure data quality, observability, and fast, reliable data delivery. This is a remote-friendly role with hubs in the US and opportunities for in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a data or software engineer building data warehouses or distributed data systems.
• Experience with dimensional, Data Vault, or ledger-style data modeling for analytics and transactions.
• Hands-on with modern data tooling for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Own data architecture end-to-end and define how to capture, model, and serve critical business data.
• Build and operate streaming and batch data pipelines across multiple domains with high reliability.
• Design canonical data models serving analytics, ML, and real-time apps.
• Implement data quality, lineage, and monitoring at scale.
• Automate operational workflows and coordinate with cross-team platforms.
• Enable insights and experimentation by providing high-quality, low-latency data.
