Job summary

SHI is seeking an experienced Services Solutions Engineer, Data Engineering, to design and deliver enterprise-scale data platforms using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric. You will work with stakeholders to implement secure, scalable pipelines for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases, focusing on state-level public sector and regulated industry projects.

The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, with an emphasis on building end-to-end data solutions, collaborating with Solution Engineers,

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience delivering modern data engineering solutions on Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics enablement.
• Strong knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance concepts (HIPAA, PII, and NIST).
• Experience working in consulting or project-based delivery environments.
• Ability to travel to SHI events.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement data ingestion, transformation, and integration pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, and related services.
• Build scalable data lakehouse and warehouse solutions in Azure and Fabric, ensuring scalability and security.
• Develop and maintain data models, ETL/ELT processes, and historical data versioning.
• Configure and manage ADLS Gen2 storage, including data organization and archival strategies.
• Implement data validation, cleansing, reconciliation, and quality controls for trusted data platforms.
• Collaborate with BI teams to prepare data for reporting, analytics, and AI consumption.
• Apply security best practices including encryption, identity-based access control, and regulatory compliance.
• Support data governance, lineage, access patterns, and operational readiness.
• Implement monitoring and operational reporting for pipelines and platforms.
• Work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Participate in workshops, discovery sessions, and requirements gathering with clients.
• Translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions and produce high-quality documentation.
• Contribute to reusable frameworks, templates, and engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and QA processes.
• Follow CI/CD and source control practices.
• Support post-implementation activities and client enablement.
