Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a detail-oriented Controlled Research Compliance Manager to support its controlled research program involving export-controlled information and CUI. This role emphasizes regulatory compliance and coordination with stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant research practices.

You will lead the CUI program, develop workflows, and work with Enterprise Technology and Information Security Office to align controls and respond to audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information management, cybersecurity, information security, computer science, or related field.
• 3 years of professional experience in information security, cybersecurity, risk management, regulatory compliance, or related oversight functions.
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate and maintain integrity of secure research operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational CUI compliance program development, including scoping and design of operating model and processes.
• Translate regulatory and sponsor requirements into practical, repeatable workflows and tools.
• Develop forms and templates to support compliance operations (e.g., TCP templates, onboarding forms, checklists).
• Plan and prioritize program work, including project tracking, onboarding, monitoring cycles, and training.
• Serve as the program's primary liaison between researchers and IT/security functions to facilitate onboarding and secure practices.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Technology and Information Security Office to design, implement, and maintain secure research environments.
• Develop end-to-end processes defining roles, handoffs, and timelines; assess for efficiency.
• Coordinate audits and investigations readiness; maintain documentation of audits/incidents.
• Provide CUI subject matter guidance to researchers and program partners.
