Job summary

Volunteers of America Western Washington is seeking a Crisis Counselor I to provide remote, telephone-based support. The role delivers crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and brief counseling to clients in emotional distress from Everett, WA.

You will triage requests for face-to-face evaluations and coordinate with response teams. Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in a related field, English fluency, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field required.
• At least one year of experience in a healthcare contact center or mental health counseling.
• Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and brief counseling to individuals in emotional distress.
• Assess clients in line with regional policies and procedures.
• Manage client interactions with timely, tailored support.
• Document interactions accurately in medical records.
• Meet or exceed program KPI targets.
• Provide assessments, consultations, and service coordination.
