Job summary

Bowhead Family of Companies is seeking a Crash Simulation Engineer to support an NHTSA contract from a fully remote location in the U.S. The successful candidate will develop and evaluate finite element models, run LS-DYNA simulations, and lead technical efforts in crash safety research with emphasis on injury analysis and reporting.

Qualifications include an MS in engineering (mechanical preferred), experience in LS-DYNA, FE modeling, DOE, and biomechanics, plus knowledge of FMVSS standards.

Qualifications

• Plan, design and control project work to meet client objectives.
• Lead technical efforts and stay current with industry practices.
• Create sled FE models and position crash test dummies and human models.
• Perform post-simulation injury analyses per FMVSS/NCAP requirements.
• Develop technical reports and presentations communicating results.
• MS in engineering (mechanical preferred).
• Experience with LS-DYNA simulations (2+ years).
• Knowledge of crash safety standards and materials.
• Experience with DOE and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with crash investigation reports.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and coordinate project work to meet client objectives.
• Lead technical efforts and keep up to date with current industry practices.
• Create sled FE models and position crash test dummies and human FE models.
• Perform vehicle crash simulations using LS-DYNA.
• Conduct post-simulation injury analyses (HIC, Nij, BrIC, etc.).
• Provide recommendations to client regarding planning, analysis and reporting.
• Develop technical reports and presentations to communicate complex research.
