Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Controls Engineer in Atlanta, GA to design and develop PLC programs for material handling and warehouse automation. You will work across the product lifecycle, interface with customers, and provide on-site support during installation and start-up, using Studio 5000 and Rockwell tools.

Expect significant travel and collaboration with electrical teams. Requirements include a Bachelor’s in EE or related field, 3+ years in controls engineering, and hands-on experience with

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or EE Technology.
• 3+ years in controls engineering for material handling or warehouse automation.
• Proficient PLC programming for material handling equipment.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Rockwell PLC platforms.
• Experience with Studio 5000 and RSLogix/RSLinx-style tools.
• Strong understanding of conveyors and automated systems.
• Ability to support and debug electrical installations on-site.
• Willingness to travel 60–70% to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC programs for material handling equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and project management to define system requirements.
• Gather and clarify customer requirements to tailor controls solutions.
• Support electrical installation activities and provide technical guidance.
• Debug installations and ensure proper operation of controls and motors.
• Participate in system analysis, design, and implementation across lifecycle.
• Provide on-site support during installation, commissioning, and start-up.
• Travel to client sites nationwide for ongoing support and improvements.
• Document designs, changes, and troubleshooting steps for maintenance.
