Job summary

Carey & Co., LLC is seeking a hands-on Controller to run day-to-day financial operations, oversee a remote Philippines team, and support nonprofit client finances. You will manage accounting processes, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive accurate reporting in a fully remote-capable firm.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in accounting/finance, a nonprofit or professional services background, and strong communication skills. CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in nonprofit, consulting, or professional services preferred.
• Experience managing remote and/or international staff (Philippines-based teams a strong plus).
• Working knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting and GAAP standards.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with additional ERP systems a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Directly manage bookkeepers based in the Philippines, ensuring consistency and timeliness across time zones.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, reconciliations, and schedules for leadership and client review.
• Develop and refine accounting procedures and internal controls to support scalable growth.
• Support GAAP nonprofit fund accounting compliance and assist with audits and tax preparation as needed.
• Serve as a point of escalation for accounting questions from clients and staff, supporting interim CFOs.
• Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Online and related tools across client engagements.
