Job summary

MAVI seeks an experienced Controller to own the accounting function for a high-growth US company, working remotely from LATAM. You will lead the close, prepare US GAAP financials, and own internal controls and audits in a high-ownership role.

You will partner with founders and senior leadership, drive process improvements, and implement ERP initiatives to scale the finance function. This fully remote opportunity offers exposure to growth-stage dynamics and cross-border collaboration.

Qualifications

8-10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership
Ownership of close and financial statements with independence
Strong command of US GAAP incl. ASC 606 and ASC 842; familiarity with ASC 718 is a plus
Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany eliminations
Track record building accounting processes and controls
Experience leading audits with external auditors
Remote work with US leadership and auditors with strong communication

Responsibilities

Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close with accountability for calendar, output quality, and cycle time
Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow under US GAAP, defend numbers to leadership, auditors, and board
Have final review authority over GL activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed assets
Research and document technical positions on revenue, leases, equity, accruals, and capitalization
Consolidate across group, intercompany, eliminations, and foreign currency translation
Establish/update accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting standards
Maintain close checklists, narratives, and SOPs for continuity
Lead annual audit or review end to end, including PBC prep and findings resolution
Coordinate US tax compliance with external CPA firms and provide inputs
Lead AP, AR, payroll accounting, and expense processing with defined turnaround and accuracy standards
Ensure balance sheet items have documented support and are reconciled
Provide FP&A and KPIs to leadership; support budgeting and forecasting
Lead and mentor accounting team; manage external accounting partners
Oversee ERP selection, implementation, and migration; automate close management
