Saronic Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced Contract Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations during a period of rapid growth.

This hands-on leader will own end-to-end payroll processing in Workday, ensuring compliance across multiple states and federal regulations. Collaborating with People, Finance, and Legal, you will drive accuracy, audits, and process improvements while maintaining SOX-compliant controls and secure handling of sensitive data.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 3+ years in a payroll management or lead role.
• Hands-on Workday payroll execution, configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Experience running multi-state payroll for 500+ employees.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax law, and wage-and-hour regulations.
• Experience partnering cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Legal on payroll matters.
• Demonstrated ability to manage payroll independently with minimal onboarding.
• Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail with high-volume data.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality when handling sensitive compensation data.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage end-to-end multi-state payroll processing in Workday for all employee types, including biweekly or semi-monthly cycles, off-cycle payments, and final pay
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Workday payroll modules, including earnings/deductions, tax setups, retro pay, and integrations with time tracking and benefits
• Ensure accurate calculation and timely remittance of payroll taxes, and manage filings across jurisdictions
• Lead payroll compliance, including wage and hour law, FLSA classification, garnishments, and multi-state registrations
• Partner with People, Finance, Total Rewards, and Legal on payroll matters such as new hires, terminations, leaves, equity/bonus payouts, and benefits deductions
• Manage and reconcile payroll GL entries, support month-end close and payroll accruals
• Prepare and review payroll reports, audits, and analytics for internal stakeholders and auditors
• Serve as escalation for discrepancies, inquiries, and system issues
• Drive process improvements and Workday optimizations to increase efficiency
• Maintain SOX-compliant payroll controls and documentation for audits
• Stay current on changes and implement updates
