Job summary

The Devenere Law Collective (DLC) is seeking a Contract Staff Attorney to join our expanding team. This contract-based role targets an experienced civil litigation attorney able to manage complex matters, appear in state and federal court, and maintain a steady caseload in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements include Texas licensure, 8+ years of practice, and trial experience with the ability to meet 60 billable hours bi-weekly.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in Texas.
• 8+ years of legal practice.
• Experience in probate/estate planning, real estate, business, or family law.
• Civil litigation experience is required.
• Trial experience is required.
• Able to meet 60 billable hours bi-weekly (120+ per month).
• Able to go to court in Harris County and nearby counties.
• Eligible for full-time employment after contract.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation caseload from inception to resolution.
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and federal filings.
• Conduct legal research and develop strategic approaches.
• Represent clients in state and federal court hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Handle discovery phases including depositions and interrogatories.
• Ensure compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Provide case evaluations and legal recommendations.
• Collaborate with case managers and support staff.
• Maintain timely billing records to meet billable hours.
