The Devenere Law Collective is seeking a Contract Staff Attorney to join our expanding team in the Houston area. This role targets experienced civil litigators who can manage complex matters, draft and file pleadings, and appear in state and federal court.

Applicants must be licensed in Texas with 8+ years of practice, possess trial experience, and meet stringent billable-hour targets while collaborating with a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• 8+ years of legal practice.
• Knowledgeable in three or more of the following areas: Probate/Estate Planning; Real Estate; Business Transaction & Litigation; Family Law.
• Civil litigation and trial experience required.
• Ability to meet a minimum of 60 billable hours bi-weekly (120+ hours per month).
• Ability to go to court within Harris County and surrounding counties.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and federal court filings
• Conduct legal research and develop strategic case approaches
• Represent clients in state and federal court hearings, mediations, and trials
• Handle all phases of discovery, including depositions, interrogatories, and document production
• Ensure compliance with federal and state procedural rules and court deadlines
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Provide case evaluations and legal recommendations
• Collaborate with internal team members, including case managers and support staff
• Maintain accurate and timely billing records to meet required billable hours
