Job summary

Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. is seeking a Construction Services Engineer to lead transportation and municipal infrastructure projects for North Dakota clients. The role involves project engineering, coordination with contractors and agencies, and delivering quality construction observations and administration.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree and a ND PE license (or ability to obtain). Travel across North Dakota is expected; relocation near Bismarck–Mandan may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
• PE license or ability to obtain North Dakota PE licensure in a reasonable timeframe.
• Experience providing construction engineering, construction observation, construction administration, or resident engineering services on transportation/municipal infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of construction specifications, contract documents, change orders, pay estimates, QA/QC procedures.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, public agencies, and project stakeholders throughout construction lifecycle.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites throughout North Dakota.
• Reside within commuting distance of the Bismarck-Mandan area or be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver transportation, municipal infrastructure, and construction engineering projects for clients throughout North Dakota.
• Serve as the Project Engineer on construction projects, coordinating with contractors, clients, utility providers, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Perform construction observation, contract administration, quantity tracking, schedule monitoring and quality assurance activities during project execution.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across SEH to develop practical solutions for complex infrastructure and construction challenges.
• Represent SEH at construction progress meetings, public meetings, and coordination meetings with local governments, NDDOT, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to construction staff, technicians, and junior engineering professionals.
• Support business development efforts through client relationship management, proposal development, project interviews, and pursuit strategies.
